Sneak this before it comes out

Macklemore x Ryan Lewis is coming out with a new music video tomorrow, but here’s the youtube from KEXP. It’s definitely different than what we’re used to hearing from the duo. The beat is faster, but the lyrics are, as always, mesmerizing- and gotta love Owour Arunga on the trumpet. Support Seattle music and watch the video when it comes out!

Early 20s Versus Late 20s?

A trek to Bellevue WA. this morning led me to eaves drop on an interesting conversation three men were having while waiting for the bus. They honestly sounded like your average trio of women, supporting each other with their theories on men. Thank god I had my notebook open to write down their take on us 20 something ladies. This is NOT a whose smarter than who, just an observation with some, ummm, opinions on both male and females. Also, these men were, uh, average.

Man 1: You know? I was like, you do what for a job?

Man 2: Yeah, they were pretty crazy

Man 1: I dunno man, women in their late 20s just don’t seem to cut it for me anymore (and they were before guy wearing brown flannel and a Steelers hat? C’mon)

Man 3 jumps in: It’s more like the early 20 girls that have it figured out! (Yes, perkier boobs and more fun, right?)

Man 1: Yeah! I met like three architects and a lawyer that night, all early 20s (You lucky bastard. Either you were at a convention or a way too pricey cocktail lounge for your your $7 dollar budlight)

Man 3: All the late 20 girls were acting more like frat boys, you know? Getting all drunk and shit (And that’s a problem for you?)

Man 2: We should definitely go for the younger girls next time (Join the rest of the clueless)

Conversation shifts

Man 1: What’s with this hippie movement going on right now?

Man 3 and 2 nod, Man 2: Yeah, everyone is like, all hippies now

I lost interest after this. Sorry, butt buddies who were walking aimlessly around Bellevue at 10am when, I am assuming you should be at work, rather than talking about frat boy girls and architect women. We, women, tend to do the same, so I can’t riff on them too hard. We assume that the older they are the more mature they are, secure, and have shaken out of their bro-esque habits. But as my friend Maria puts it, older men are no different than the younger men, they just have bed frames.

I mean, don’t kid yourself, we all like to put our party pants on. Some are just more professional about it.

Living on Your Lonesome

Okay, so maybe I have gone to bed early a few times, but I have yet to cut up a picture that I like for a puzzle that’s mine.

It’s not an art form or something I can become swallowed by. But living alone, in between a couple of jobs, and currently as they say, flying solo, has created the ultimate challenge: discovering how to enjoy alone time. Right now it’s all about a balance between writing, running, my blackberry red light, and being aware to take advantage of these next few months because odds are, I won’t be able to enjoy my own space like I can now. I will move in with other friends, boyfriends, and then alas, a family. There’s always something more desirable than what we have at this very moment, but fuck it, I know how lucky I am—and I know having a crush on men like John C. Reilly and Lil Wayne will not help my dating life, but what can I say? I know what I like.

The (Baby) Crib

A month overdue, here is the temporary spot. It’s a good size, sandwiched between downtown and Capitol Hill, what more could a girl ask for? Most of these photos were taken from my phone, so they aren’t the best quality, but you’ll get it.

Came back from the frigid weather in Minnesota to this view from my window

…And maybe I haven’t left college quite yet? Had a mason jar of vino while unpacking

The living room.family room.bedroom, its bright by 7am. Good moooorning Seaaattle

So, since I don’t have internet at my place, I often trek up to Capitol Hill for some Wifi. This lovely lady has been my best friend since middle school and is currently playing water polo in Italy. It was maybe an hour after I had cut my bangs, and we were doing our usual catch up sesh via Skype. Her face froze like this for a few minutes mid story

My two other closest friends out to brunch as Rosebud. Twelve bucks each for a decent meal, mimosa, and coffee. The odds of the champagne being cooks? High, but who cares

And last but not least, the adorable little one ass kitchen

The Hitchcock Family

After five months with the Hitchcock family, I am now moving on with my adventures in pursuit of writing semi-professionally. Doesn’t mean I can’t tell you get up off your ass and eat there, right? This place has got killer food, and personality to match. The Chefs pull a menu together from what the local farmers offer, making friends along the way. Here are a few photos I took during the ride, and a big thank you to the chefs. Check the link below.
